The New Melle Chamber of Commerce was started in 1995 to advance the general welfare and prosperity of the New Melle area so that its citizens and business community may prosper, with particular emphasis on the economic, civic, commercial, industrial and educational interests of the area. Since its inception, the chamber has sponsored numerous community projects and events, including: - Installation, maintenance, and landscaping around the "Welcome to New Melle" sign at the intersections of Highway's D and Z.
- Lighted, holiday street decorations for the community.
- An annual scholarship program which, since 1999, has provided $6500 dollars in tuition assistance to New Melle area students.
- An annual Easter Egg Hunt attended by over 300 children.
- An annual "Main Street New Melle" celebration that features a run/walk, and festivities, demonstrations and booths throughout the streets of town.
Meeting Schedule: Meetings are held the third Thursday of each month except December. Generally, members start gathering at 11:30 a.m. for lunch, and meetings run from 12:00 noon to 1:p.m. Locations vary from time to time, so please call to verify.
