New Melle Chamber Scholarship Information

The scholarship is open to graduating high school seniors, and students enrolled full-time for the fall semester in a two or four-year school. Including technical and trade schools.

The entry deadline for the NMCC Scholarship is April 6th.

Failure to submit the application, recommendations, and all other required documents

by April 6th will result in disqualification.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION

INSTRUCTIONS


-Submit a transcript or copy of your report card from your last two completed semesters.

   

-Submit a typed, double spaced essay of at least 250 words, and not more than 750 words, explaining your career goals and why you would be a good choice to receive this scholarship.


-Submit 2 Recommendation forms


  Additional Important Information 


1. Finalists may be asked to attend a personal interview with the scholarship review committee prior to final selection. 


2. Payments will be made at the beginning of the school year upon proof of enrollment (Recipients must supply proof of enrollment to the Chamber at the beginning of the school year or payment will NOT be made). This scholarship is non-renewable. All applicants (including current recipients) are encouraged to reapply during the next enrollment period for future scholarship awards. 


3. Students may be enrolled in academic or technical degree programs/schools. 


4. You must be a resident of the New Melle Fire Protection District to be eligible for this scholarship. (https://newmellefire.org/district-map/) 


5. Winners will be notified by May 4 th. 


6. Failure to follow directions or return all required documentation will result in immediate disqualification. Deadline: April 6 th 


PROCEDURE


The New Melle Chamber of Commerce shall award up to four (4) scholarships of up to $2000 each per

school year unless otherwise determined by a vote of the membership. Payments shall be made

directly to the school.


Both scholarships can be applied to any degree program at any accredited school: technical,

vocational, college or university.


● The scholarship committee (consisting of the “President-Elect” and two additional members) will

review applications, select recipients, and coordinate any presentation to the winners. (Scholarship

committee members should be appointed at the January or February membership meeting.)


● The scholarships shall be non-renewable and be awarded for a term of one year only. Past

recipients will be required to reapply, along with any new applicants.

1. Resident of New Melle Fire Protection District.

2. Grade point average of at least 2.5 (high school and college).

3. Must be enrolled as a full time student.

4. Student must provide proof of enrollment. Checks to be issued to the school at the

beginning of each semester.


 Review Process


Applicants shall complete an application form and an essay explaining why they want the

scholarship and how it will be used.



Consideration will be given to demonstrated leadership, initiative, teamwork and personal

responsibility through participation in community service or other extracurricular activities.
